Super Bowl Sunday

If of all, let me just say that it is pushing 70 degrees today. Remember, we had a snow day 2 days ago. That's Arkansas weather for you!

Next, I am a football fan, I really am, but I have to admit that I'm watching this year's Super Bowl game primarily for the commercials. I am not a diehard Pats or Giants fan and am torn about rooting for either (I love the underdog, but I also think it would be neat for the Patriots to have a perfect record). I guess I'll just cheer for blue and red (note to those who don't follow football: both team's colors are blue and red).

We're not doing much for the football game. Our club is having a Super Bowl party, but I just want to do somethink low key. So we are ordering pizza and wings from the club and having them delivered. Our club just started offering delivery to those who live on property -- our club is in a gated neighborhood, so this makes it pretty easy for them. They just send it with a security guy doing his round. I love it because it makes my life so much easier, and I can get my club favorites without having to get dressed up!

This afternoon I took my daughter to see the American Girl play about Addy. For those not familiar with the story, it is about a girl who was a slave and who ran away to Philadelphia for freedom. It was billed for kids ages 8+. However, it was really, really intense. I was in tears for some of it. I think it should of been for kids much older. In any case it was well done, and we both enjoyed it.

Yesterday was a busy day so I didn't get post anything. My day started with a birthday party at 10 a.m. at Chuck-E-Cheese. My kids beg me for parties there, but I just can't do them. Way too stressful. A little girl from my son's class had her party there, and my son was delighted to attend (even though the party was for a girl). While he was having fun playing video games, I was having fun at Belk. My deals yesterday included 2 )one red, one hunter) Ralph Lauren cotton cable sweaters for my youngest son for $11.57 each. They had each retailed for $59! I also found a pink Ralph Lauren oxford shirt for my husband for $21. It had been $89! Last, I bought some PJs for my middle son for $3.47 that had been $28. These deals made my day!

Later in the afternoon, I decided that I had better get on the ball machine, so I did just that. I stank. OMG -- it's amazing how much you can loose in 2 months! I swear I could barely hit the ball over the net. And, don't get me started on my serve. I could not get in one serve on my Ad side. Yikes! My match next Friday will not be pretty.

Finally, we were supposed to go to a Mardi Gras party last night and bring a hot, single co-worker of my husband's to meet my nice Junior League friend. However, at about 4:30 my husband talked to his co-worker and discovered that he had a date and wanted to bring her! This obviously wasn't going to work, so we decided not to go to the party (yes, I let her know we wouldn't be there...thankfully, I could do it via e-vite). Instead, we joined our neighbor for a birthday dinner at a local restaurant. It was lots of fun. I drank one too many lemon martinis (they're just sooooo good), so I was feeling a little out of it this morning.

That's it for my weekend. I'm off to watch football, drink beer and eat pizza!
